Become Involved with Victoria Farmers Market at Moss Street

Since 1992, Victoria Farmers Market at Moss Street has been the heart of Fairfield. But a market this vibrant doesn’t just happen—it’s built by a dedicated team of volunteers who believe in local food and sustainable community.

Information for Volunteers

Volunteers for our Summer Market Season

Victoria Farmers Market at Moss Street operates year-round, but we only require volunteers for
our summer market season, May through October, every Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
The setting is outdoors in all weather, but other than setup and teardown, mostly under a tent.

Volunteers do not need to volunteer every Saturday. But we ask that volunteers commit to
attending more than once (as our training time is limited on market day), allowing you to
contribute more fully to the market.

Volunteer shifts:

9:30 – Noon

Noon – 2:30pm

We have volunteers at the Information Tent, Online Order Pickup Tent, and Vendor Service.

Information Tent

Volunteers occupy the Information Tent during operating hours and help with setup and teardown. The most frequent customer questions are about where to find a
specific vendor or product, where the washrooms are located, etc. We have an information sheet for volunteers answering the most commonly asked questions, and there are always staff members available to help.

Online Order Pick-Up Tent

Customers order during the week, then pick up their items at the tent on Saturdays. The orders are all prepaid, so no finances are involved.

Vendor Service

The Vendor Service person stands in at stalls for vendors that only have one person, allowing them to buy coffee or lunch, use the facilities, etc. Our volunteer staffs the vendor’s stall to let customers know the vendor will return shortly. Our single vendors really
appreciate our providing this service. The volunteer shift is a bit flexible, but works best from 11am to 1pm. Sometimes it doesn’t take that long.
